Ride through fire to a giantess’s hall, refuse the gifts, find the wand in the wet wood and carve the curse. Learn the real myth of Gambanteinn, the Wand of Gamban, by walking it.

Gambanlore is an independent project that turns Norse myth into something you can explore. We are storytelling and history enthusiasts who believe the old tales are best learned by walking through them.
Every scene is built around what the sources actually say, mainly the Skírnismál and Hárbarðsljóð poems of the Poetic Edda. Where scholars disagree or where popular claims have no support, we label it.

By using gambanlore.com (“the site”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The site retells myths and discusses scholarship for education and entertainment. The 3D scenes are creative interpretations, not historical reconstructions. We aim for accuracy in the text but cannot guarantee that every detail is complete or correct, and scholarly opinion changes. Please check primary sources for anything important.
The site is free. It does not sell goods or services, does not take payments and does not ask for payment details.
Please use the site for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. Do not attempt to disrupt it, scrape it at scale or copy it as your own.
The text, design, 3D scenes and code are ours. The myths themselves are ancient and belong to everyone. Quotations and links to other sites remain the property of their owners.
The 3D experience needs a browser with WebGL. If your device cannot run it, a text version is available through the “Read instead” button and the Codex.
The site is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from its use. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that cannot be excluded.
We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version.
